Your Village Hall Needs You!
Burbage Village Institute was opened in 1911, paid for by public subscription and built on land donated by the Duke of Devonshire. It became a charity in 2003 .Since then it has supported all manner of local activities, Burbage Preschool Nursery every day from Monday to Friday, Ladies’ keep fit, WI, Gardeners’ Club, Ballroom dancing, dance school, coffee mornings / bazaars, innumerable private parties for young and old (the hire charges are very modest!). In addition, there is the annual pantomime – oh yes there is! The hall has two rooms, a proper stage and a kitchen. It has recently been re-decorated and had the floor renovated, toilets refurbished etc etc. There are plans for continual improvements eg installation of a hearing loop. It is the Trustees who make all this happen by meeting four times a year. We need more Trustees to keep this hundred year old tradition going. Please consider joining us – you can come along to the Annual General Meeting on 26th March at 7.30 to find out more or contact us via email .
